In 2001, hockey changed Jolene’s life. She was heading down the wrong path but after watching her first game, pain turned into passion and she decided to share that with the world. So, she got into radio. Jolene has anchored News and Sports in both Edmonton and Vancouver and also got to cover the 2010 Games for News1130. Hockey1stlady: Gagner Takes Us Back To The 80′s 2/3/12

Hockeys1stlady Superb doesn’t begin to describe Thursday’s performance by Oilers’ forward Sam Gagner. Not only did the hats fly at Rexall Place when he scored his third of four goals vs. the Blackhawks, but Gagner had four assists as well. That’s eight points, which tied a team record held by Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey. The last time we saw a show like that in the regular season? December 31st, 1988 when Mario Lemieux accomplished the impressive feat of scoring five goals in five different ways against the Devils....

Hockeys1stlady: Who Needs Ovechkin 1/30/12

Posted by on Jan 30th, 2012 in Hockeys1stlady Blog | 0 comments

Hockeys1stlady The All-Star weekend didn’t need Alex Ovechkin. It was an entertaining couple of days for hockey fans all over with Team Alfie taking down Team Chara in the Skills, 21-12. Chara’s squad rebounded Sunday with a 12-9 victory in the big game. A couple of moments stood out for me in the Skills Competition, including some during the Breakaway Challenge which featured an appearance from Clark Kent. Patrick Kane busted out the cape and glasses and scored on Brian Elliott after a creative sequence. This is where I...

Perry is a Hart winner and has a Cup ring too. As for the Ducks, Schneider is an attractive name but don’t forget, Anaheim already has Jonas Hiller for a couple more years. Ballard is an...

Hockeys1stlady: Couture Last Man Standing

Posted by on Jan 27th, 2012 in Hockeys1stlady Blog | 0 comments

Hockeys1stlady It was drawn out, at times entertaining and in the end, Sharks’ centreman Logan Couture walked off the stage with the car at the NHL All Star Draft. He was picked last after Jamie Benn of the Stars was chosen by Team Chara. Not surprisingly, all the Swedes, Sedins and Senators ended up on Team Alfie. I would have liked to of seen one of the Canucks be chosen by Team Chara, just so I didn’t have to keep hearing about it. Another comment I could have been happy with only hearing once was, “Leafs suck!!”...

Hockeys1stlady: Thomas Disses Whitehouse!

Posted by on Jan 23rd, 2012 in Hockeys1stlady Blog | 0 comments

Hockeys1stlady The Twitterverse went crazy Monday when word got out that Tim Thomas didn’t accompany the rest of the Bruins to the White House. Thomas made these comments on his facebook page. “I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I...
