St. John’s IceCaps Farewell – After two decades, the American Hockey League in St. John’s officially came to an end. The St. John’s IceCaps lost 2-1 in overtime to the Syracuse Crunch Friday night in Syracuse, N.Y., that now brings an end to the team existence in the East Coast city.
The Montreal Canadiens, who own the St. John’s franchise, are moving their minor-league operation to Laval, Que., in the off-season. So far all efforts to find another AHL team has been unsuccessful since most NHL teams would like to have their farm teams closer geographically.
This video is a tribute to the 20 years the AHL team has existed in St. John’s.
