Sweden squeeks by Russia 3-2. Canadians are not the only ones licking their wounds today as host Russia watched their gold medal dreams ended by Sebastian Collberg’s shootout marker. It proved to be the difference as Sweden beat Russia 3-2 on Thursday to earn a spot in the gold medal game Saturday against the United States.
Collberg was the only shooter to score.
Russia will play Canada for bronze, also on Saturday. The U.S. beat Canada 5-1 on Thursday in the day’s other semifinal.
Elias Lundholm and Filip Forsberg scored for Sweden in the first period.
