David Aebischer makes 2 insane saves!! David Aebischer makes two unbelievable stick saves vs Linus Omark and EV Zug. Sportscentral1000 uploaded the video and asks if they are the two best saves in hockey history? This would be hard to quantify since there are a couple of things that go into making the best save ever:
1. Was it an incredible feat of athleticism?
2. Was it just sheer luck?
3. What was riding on the save?
The third point is the most important which means these two saves cannot be considered as the two best saves in the history of the game. If he had made the second save in overtime of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals…then you bet! incredible saves but hardly worthy of calling them the best ever.
In fact we can recall a save by the Vancouver Canucks Kirk McLean that many consider the ‘save of the century’ and that save still stands out for me!
