Sami Salo speaks
Sami Salo, clad in the white “don’t touch me jersey,” skated with the Canucks Friday. Despite hitting the ice three days in a row, Coach Alain Vigneault says he isn’t ready for game action yet.
Salo, who has been on the shelf since January 7th with a concussion, also spoke about the Brad Marchand hit for the first time. Jim Jamieson, a writer for The Province, revealed that Salo said, “It wasn’t a hockey play so I was angry, but that’s in the past now and the focus is getting back in the lineup.” Salo was asked about the length of Marchand’s suspension and replied, “It doesn’t make me feel any better if it’s one game or five games.”
Since Salo has been out of the line-up the Canucks have not won in regulation and two things have become quite clear to me. Number 6 is a very valuable part of the team and that their back end is in need of another piece if they plan on getting close to the Cup again. We all know Mike Gillis is not a fan of messing with team chemistry, so I am interested to see what he does, if anything, on Trade Deadline Day, February 27th.
Yes, well written & info good to hear. U know I’m Sami Salo fan & think he is an important, entertaining, talented asset to the #Canuck team!
